Would a Worm Go on a Walk? + Giveaway

We all think our children are special, because they are.  God made each one with unique qualities and special strengths.  But how do we teach our children about their special gifts? My go-to for teaching Biblical lessons, is usually a great children’s book. So I am teaming up with FlyBy Promotions to share with you, Would a Worm Go on a Walk?, written by Hannah C. Hall. All opinions are my own and are not influenced by other sources.

Would a Worm Go on a Walk?

Would a Worm Go on a Walk?

This silly picture book introduces children to the idea that animals are created with unique qualities by a God who is loving and wise.  Would a Worm Go on a Walk? was created in a comical and imaginative way to remind and teach children that God made all things good.

Big C giggled and laughed at the funny scenarios and was reminded of how much God loves her and how truly special she is.  Big C and I think your children (ages 4 -7) would enjoy this book, too.

Tough Mommy Days

Oh mamas!  I’m right in the middle of raising a 2.  And it’s been exhausting to say the least. Without his magnesium oil, Little M will sometimes wake up as early as 4am.  Goodness, this makes for a long day of tantrums, messes, snack requests and bedtime stall tactics.  I don’t remember the two year old stage being so challenging with Big C. With Little M, there have been some tough mommy days.

Can You Relate to My Tough Mommy Days?

I’ll be right in the middle of making breakfast, when Little M begins asking for his first snack. He hasn’t even finished breakfast yet and he wants a snack.  He is constantly eating. (What am I going to do when he is a teenager?) Once he decides he is done with a meal, boom, his plate and all his leftovers are on the floor.  Ugh! Before I’m finished cleaning up his food mess, I hear a cry from big sis, whose hair is being pulled by Little M.  Or they are fighting over a toy before I can finish folding the laundry.  And once I finally get him down for a nap, I find crayon all over the walls and hardwood floor. This stage is trying.

I Know I’m Blessed

When I am so exhausted, that I don’t think I can take much more, God reminds me how blessed I am.  This is a season, though trying, it will pass.  And when they say the days are long and the years are short, they (whoever they are) aren’t lying.  This photo popped up on my Timehop App this morning.

Tough Mommy Days

The photo on the left reminds me of how far he has come.  I GET to be a mommy.  I GET to love, nurture, snuggle, teach and provide for this little guy.  I GET to watch him grow, learn and discover.  Thank you, God, for strengthening him, so I GET to be a mommy to this precious stinker.

How do you survive your tough mommy days?

Walk It Off Now + Giveaway

My Weight Struggle

I’ve struggled with my weight my whole life.  I was always the chubby kid growing up.  I struggled finding clothes that were stylish and cute.  And I always wanted to be that skinny girl. As I grew and got older, the weight started to come off.  Most people gain the Freshman Fifteen in college, but for me, that was when I learned how to take care of my body the right way.  I did this through a healthy diet, taking a long walk around the lake, and joining different exercise classes at the campus gym.

Challenging Myself

I’m thankful that I never took drastic measures to change my body or lose weight.  I know that can be an addiction in and of itself.  I love to have a plan that allows me to stay focused, but also challenge myself.  Just a few months ago, I started exercising again after my difficult c-section.  I decided to take on a new challenge and partner up with Wendie Pett for the Walk It Off Now program.  Wendie is providing me with everything I need for the challenge to help promote and share her program with you.

Eye Sight – Fighting Blindness

I Didn’t Know My Eye Sight Was Bad

The ophthalmologist visited my school every year to do eye screenings.  I wanted so badly to be able to wear glasses.  (I guess I thought it would be cool). But every year, my eyes scored perfectly on the eye exam.  When I had my eye screening in sixth grade, I was surprised to learn that I needed to see an eye doctor for retesting.  I thought it was a mistake, for sure. But when I was retested, sure enough, I needed glasses. The ophthalmologist had me look out the window at the sign across the street.  Then he asked me to try on my new glasses.  I couldn’t believe how clearly I could see now.  My eye sight was perfect!

I could see the chalkboard better, catch a fly ball, see faces and movies like I had never seen before.  My world had changed.  Since then, my vision and prescription has mostly stayed the same.  Thank goodness.  But as age increases, there are many who begin to lose their eye sight.  They can no longer read to their grandchildren or watch their favorite movies and shows. Imagine your life without eye sight.  Big C and I teamed up with the Foundation for Fighting Blindness, with this video and post, to bring everyone awareness and hope for Age-related Macular Degeneration.  We received a small compensation in doing so.  Take a look and listen.

Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Deteriorating eye sight as you age is difficult, but there are treatments.  And we want the world to know that there is hope and a cure in sight.  The Foundation Fighting Blindness  is providing you or someone you know with a free, downloadable, education packet for those who are experiencing Age-related Macular Degeneration.

The Foundation Fighting Blindness, a non-profit organization, has provided funding for research on cures for blindness, specifically AMD, since 1971.  FFB has already made possible, treatments to stop, and in some cases, reverse retinal disease.  This is great news for people over 55 and their families.

Anchored Press Planner + Giveaway

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure . . . Hebrews 6:19 NIV.  These were the words I read as I opened up my Anchored Press Devotional Planner to review. What a beautiful, daily reminder for me to have at my fingertips each day.  Because our lives are filled with tasks and to-do lists, Anchored Press, gave me the opportunity to share with you and remind us to be still with God.

Anchored Press Planner

How Anchored Press was Found

As moms, we are constantly putting others first and forgetting or putting our needs on the back burner.  Over the years, Deana turned her daily planner into a place where she kept her schedule, devotional, prayer journal, meal plan, goals and memories.  Through prayer, she realized God was opening a door for her.  And that’s when the Anchored Press Planner came to life.  The planner became a way for women to stay organized and anchored in God’s Word.

Details and Features

When I opened my planner, I realized that Deana did not miss a beat when it comes to organization.  It’s a great tool to keep my schedule organized, time to spend with God, dinner planning, prayer requests and a place to pour out my soul.  She even thought about the important details when making the planner, including recycled paper, friendly soy based ink, a hard cover easy to keep clean and a strong wire binding.

Anchored Press Planner

2017 Planner

The 2017 Anchored Press Planners will be released in late August, which will include an expanded product line.  The new line will include two formats, more color options and a separate prayer journal.  One of the planners has fifty-two devotionals, one for each week, written by inspiring women of God, including Christine Caine and Jenni Catron.  The current 2016 planners are 40% off, which is an amazing deal, since there is still seven months left of the year.

Anchored Press is giving you the opportunity to win a 2017 planner of your own.  Only one entrant per mailing address, per giveaway.  This giveaway closes on June 30th. Good luck!

Teaching Children Patience + Giveaway

You may remember when I reviewed the amazing children’s book Hannah The Belle of Prayer.”  Well, the Bible Belles are at it again, and I’ve been asked to review The Adventures of Rooney Cruz – Esther The Belle of Patience.  We loved the first book so much, we’ve been waiting on the edge of our seats for the next one to be released.  Erin Weidemann, the author of the Bible Belles series, did not disappoint.  I am honored to share with you my review and opinions of “Esther The Belle of Patience.”

Esther The Belle of Patience Children's Book

I’m very familiar with the stories of men in the Bible, but what about the courageous women? The Bible Belles is a unique series that presents real life superheroes like you’ve never heard before.  It showcases five women of the Bible including Hannah, Esther, Abigail, Ruth and Deborah.  It’s a fantastic way for my daughter to connect with them and understand what being beautiful truly means.  Through this series, young girls will remember their names, stories and what makes them so special.

So what is “Esther The Belle of Patience all about?  I’m so glad that you asked.  Like many children, Rooney enjoys playing sports.  She loves soccer, but her and her teammates are frustrated with Amanda, the ball hog.  Rooney tries to express her feelings to her coach, but it never seems like a good time.  That’s when Mari, Rooney’s guardian angel, appears. Mari takes Rooney on an adventure to learn about Esther’s superpower of patience and how she saved her family.  On her journey, Rooney learns how to pray for patience and the right words and timing to speak to her coach.

I have a hard time teaching Big C what it means to be a daughter of the King.  It’s difficult to speak to her in a way that she will understand.  That’s why, as a parent, I find the Bible Belles series such a useful and fun resource to help her learn and grow in her faith.

You can purchase the same books Big C has and other Bible Belle products by visiting their site at BibleBelles.com. FlyBy Promotions is giving you a chance to win a copy of The Adventures of Rooney Cruz – Esther the Belle of Patience.  Simply fill out the Rafflecopter form below to enter.  Don’t forget to stay connect with Bible Belles on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram to keep up to date on new releases and encouraging words.

Healthy Snack for Good Digestion

Tummy Trouble

My daughter enjoyed food that didn’t always agree with her tummy.  She didn’t eat “junk food” per se (unless it was a special occasion) but the variety of foods just wasn’t there.  Big C would end up with a tummy ache at least once a week.  We tried to include more fiber foods in her diet and less cheese products, but if she enjoyed even one day of treats, it threw her body off big time.

I reached out to her pediatrician for help and used every suggestion she gave us, but nothing was working.  The doctor then suggested she take Miralax every day. I wasn’t happy with that answer and wanted something much more natural.  I scoured the web looking for others that might have children in the same situation.

Finding Relief

The two, natural tips that kept popping up were chia seeds and coconut oil.  Many parents suggested a natural Miralax made from coconut oil and other healthy ingredients.  I love the idea, but I wanted something a little quicker and easier to make.  Then I found several recipes on PInterest using chia seeds to create pudding and other high fiber foods.  The Chia Seed pudding looked super yummy and easy to make.

Simple Recipe with Simple Ingredients

The base of the pudding only requires 2 ingredients (chia seeds and your choice of milk), then you can add in other ingredients to fit your taste.  I used chia seeds, coconut juice and a little bit of cocoa powder to create chocolate pudding for Big C.  She had never had “regular” pudding before, so she had nothing to compare it to.  Big C thought the pudding was delicious.  And every day, with every meal at home, she gets a few spoonfuls of chia seed pudding.

Healthy Snacks for Digestion

Chia pudding has been such a blessing for my daughter.  As long as we are consistent and stick to a healthy diet, we have avoided major belly aches.  Because of the tummy aches in the past, she is now, so much more aware of what healthy food choices really are.  My prayer is that someone else who is going through the same struggle, would stumble upon this post and find relief for their child.

What are your favorite healthy snacks for you and your children?
