Saving Money On Children’s Clothing

As we all know, kids grow so fast.  It’s really hard for me to spend money on children’s clothing when I know that they will outgrow them within a year.  Not only do my kids grow out of their clothes, they play hard and eat messy.  So I found some ways to keep the cost of clothing down.

Before my children were even born, I accepted hand-me-down clothes with a grateful heart. But that’s not the only way I save money on their clothes.  One of my favorite ways to get free children’s clothes is through consigning.  We had an amazing children’s consignment shop in Colorado.  I would bring in the kid’s used clothes and receive money or store credit in return.  We have a smaller shop here in Florida that I like to go to, but there aren’t as many options.

Saving Money On Children's Clothing

I’m not big on coupon clipping, but there is one app and one website that I highly recommend to earn easy cash and gift cards.  As well as, save money on clothing.  The one and only coupon app I use is (this is my referral link, use it and get $10 free) ibotta.  I use it for things I already buy. It’s super easy to use and it’s free money.

The website I like to use to earn Amazon gift cards is (this is my referral link which will give you +5,000 points) dealspotr.  This is another easy one where you share and spot deals that you love.  I dedicate about ten to fifteen minutes a day on this one to rack up points quickly.

I became more frugal when I became a mom, but I don’t like to spend hours on trying to save money. I just do the best I can with a couple of resources.  My kids don’t always have the newest and most expensive styles, but they are very blessed to have nice clothes at a decent price.

How do you save money on your children’s clothes?

A Love Letter For My Children

Dear Babies,

Yes, you’ll always be my babies no matter how big you get or how old you become.  I thought when I became a mommy, it would be my job to teach you everything.  But the both of you have taught me so much more than I could ever imagine.  And I’m sure there is more to come.

Big C –
You made me a mommy.  You taught me how to love with my whole heart.  A love so different then I have ever felt before.  You taught me compassion.  When I see other mommies experiencing challenges with their children, I now understand, instead of placing judgement.  You taught me to let go of my worries and trust God.  You are so fun to be with and I enjoy all of our adventures together.

Little M –
You are my tough guy.  You’ve taught me strength and endurance before you were even born.  You’ve reminded me time and time again, that my plans are not always God’s plans.  You’ve taught me that every child does not fit the same mold.  With you, I learned how to use my mama instincts.  I love your belly laughs and our sweet cuddle time.

No matter how old you are, I hope you both will always know my love for you.  I hope you will always rely on God’s love and blessings for your life.  Don’t ever sink to the world’s expectations of you, but rise above to what our Savior has called you to be.

                                                                                                               God bless you always,
                                                                                                                         Mommy

Give Encouragement with The Hospital Box + Giveaway + Discount Code

Being stuck in a hospital bed was one two of the hardest and loneliest times of my life.  It was never fun being glued to my bed with IV’s and trying to find a comfortable sleeping position.  Once I did fall asleep, I would quickly be woken to check my vitals or blood work. What made my hospital stays easier though, was the thoughtfulness of family and friends.  They would come just to sit by my bedside and chat, bring books, magazines and special treats.  I couldn’t have made it without them. That’s why I wanted to partner with The Hospital Box, to share with you how we can be an encouragement for our loved ones who are hospitalized.  I received compensation from The Hospital Box as a thank you for my time, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Kari created The Hospital Box when her mother-in-law was having knee replacement surgery.  She wanted her gift to be meaningful and thoughtful, but also something easy.  When Kari presented the box to her mother-in-law, tears filled her eyes, seeing the care package covered with encouraging sayings and pictures of her loved ones.

The Hospital Box Giveaway

The Hospital Box comes with everything you need to create a very special gift.  It includes three, soft cotton bags with words like, “open when you need a hug” (these are great for placing handwritten notes, jokes and photos), a feel better box with lots of space to add your own decorations and photos, and twenty-one decorative stickers.  After you decorate your box, fill it with The Hospital Box’s great gift suggestions.

The Hospital Box is also a proud partner with The Confetti Foundation.  Their awesome mission is to supply birthday parties to children who have to spend their birthday in the hospital.  For every Hospital Box purchased, $1 will be donated to The Confetti Foundation.

Do you need something special to give to a loved one in the hospital?  The Hospital Box is the perfect gift.  You can purchase it directly from their website with free shipping on all orders AND use the code BLESSINGS20 to receive 20% off. Or purchase your box at Amazon.com for $24.99. PLUS, when you sign up for their newsletter, you’ll receive a bunch of FREE feel better vouchers that help bring fun and create a positive healing process.

Organic Mattress Giveaway

naturepedic-giveaway-may-square

Welcome to the Naturepedic EOS Standard Queen Organic Mattress Giveaway ($2599 Value), sponsored by Naturepedic and hosted by Happy Mothering and the Green Moms Network.

Shopping for a new mattress can be an intimidating experience. It seems like there are so many mattress brands to choose from, and it can be dizzying to find the one that’s right for you.

Before you go mattress shopping, let’s talk about why most mattresses on the market these days are toxic. Did you know that most mattresses are full of lots of toxic chemicals?

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)

For example, many beds – even many beds labeled as green or natural – are made from high-density polyurethane foams (often referred to as memory foam). These foams are made from petroleum and emit Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).

According to the EPA, VOCs can cause a wide range of health problems, such as eye, nose and throat irritation; headaches; skin allergies; nausea; fatigue; dizziness; liver, kidney and central nervous system damage; and even cancer.

Mold

Popular memory foam beds, like the Tempur-Pedic brand, often cause mold issues. Read Happy Mothering’s experience with mold and a Tempur-Pedic mattress.

Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde is often found in the the adhesives that holds mattresses together. Formaldehyde has been linked to asthma, allergies, and lung, nose and throat cancers, and can also cause fatigue, skin rashes and severe allergic reactions.

Flame Retardants

To meet a Federal Law that requires mattresses to put themselves out after having 39 lit cigarettes and blow torches held to the top and side for 30 seconds, many mattress makers use chemical flame retardants. Flame retardants have been linked to cancer, reproductive problems and impaired fetal brain development.

Boric Acid

Many mattress manufacturers use boric acid – a pesticide often used as a roach killer – in the lining of their mattresses. Acute boric acid exposure can lead to skin blistering, convulsions and even coma. Long-term exposure has been linked to neurological and developmental problems, and inhalation could cause upper respiratory tract damage.

Pesticides

According to the Organic Consumers Association, 25% of all the pesticides used in the US are used to grow cotton. Many of these pesticides are known to be carcinogenic and cause reproductive problems in animals. Residues from these pesticides remain in your mattress and other bedding after they’re made and delivered to your home.

Fortunately, there are ways you can avoid all of these toxic chemicals in your bedroom.

Why You Should Choose a Naturepedic EOS Organic Mattress

Naturepedic EOS Campaign_2

If you’re looking for a new mattress, consider the Naturepedic EOS organic mattress line. Naturepedic mattresses don’t contain any of the harmful ingredients found in conventional mattresses. You can read Happy Mothering’s review of the Naturepedic EOS mattress too, but here are some key points to keep in mind.

Certified Organic

The Naturepedic EOS line is not only non-toxic, but organic too. Unlike other companies who may use some organic ingredients, the entire EOS mattress is certified organic to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). Additionally, all latex is certified to the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS).

Naturally Flame Retardant

In addition, the Naturepedic EOS organic mattress does not contain any toxic flame retardant chemicals or flame retardant barriers. That doesn’t mean it’s flammable though! It naturally meets and exceeds all federal and state flammability standards. Naturepedic does this by using a design that does not use any petrochemical foams.

Customizable

One of the unique qualities of the Naturepedic EOS organic mattress series is that it’s customizable. You get to choose the firmness level for each side of the bed. There are four levels of firmness: plush, cushion firm, firm and extra firm. Cushion firm is the most popular level.

If you choose the wrong level, you have 90 days to exchange the comfort inserts for free (and only pay for shipping). Even if you change your mind after 90 days, you can still order new layers and change the support or comfort of your mattress without having to replace the entire mattress.

Shipped to Your Home

Your Naturepedic EOS Standard Mattress will arrive packed in boxes – the California King, for example, comes in four boxes. It’s so much easier than going store to store, shopping for a mattress, then trying to get it home. Now you can go on the Naturepedic website and order your mattress, and it will come right to your door.

None Like Him || Review and Giveaway

One of my big brothers taught me how to have a relationship with God when I was a young girl.  He would pray with me, take me to church and had always been a good, christian role model.  From then on, there has always been a fire in my heart to know everything there is to know about God.  I’ve strived to be just like Him in the past, but ALWAYS fell short.  I felt like I was always letting God down.  The book, None Like Him, that Propeller Consulting has provided me for review, has given me a clearer understanding, that I will NEVER be just like God.  And that’s okay.

Jen Wilkin, the author of None Like Him, shares why it’s okay to not be just like God.  In the easy to read chapters, she explains that God is self-existent, eternal, immutable, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, sovereign, infinite and incomprehensible.  And we’re not.  But did you know that’s a good thing?  Our limitations are by design.  We were never meant to be God.  Phew!  That takes a weight off our shoulders.  The author invites us to celebrate the freedom when we rest in letting God be God.

None Like Him Review Giveaway

Each chapter in this book is filled with personal stories, Bible versus and reflection questions to draw us closer to God and who He really is.  I’ve enjoyed this book as my own personal growth and it would make an excellent resource for a Women’s Bible Study.

Many thanks to Propeller Consulting for providing None Like Him for this giveaway.  Winner will be randomly selected using the Rafflecopter form below.  Only one entrant per mailing address, per giveaway.  If you have won a prize from our sponsor in the last 30 days or the same prize on another blog, you are not eligible to win.
